Caol Ila 2010-2022 | 12 Year Old | Berry Bros & Rudd Single Cask 311758
Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Berry Brothers & Rudd 70cl / 56.5%
A single cask 12-year-old Caol Ila 2010 bottled at its full strength of 56.5% without colouring or chill filtration for the autumn 2022 outturn of everyone's favourite pheasant-eating, jodphur-wearing indie bottlers, Berry Brothers & Rudd.
This cask strength 12-year-old Caol Ila 2010 started life in a hogshead before being transferred for a brief finishing period in a cask that was previously home to the Italian dessert wine Vin Santo which should have added some cooked fruit and toasted almond notes to Caol Ila's traditional blast of salt, citrus and smoke.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Scotland meets Italy.
Nose: The nose is initially quite tight; a drop of water helps to tease out the aromas, giving peat smoke paired with a backbone of citrussy fruit loaf.
Palate: The palate is pleasingly thick, showing coastal peat, dried fruit, mango, figs and spiced melon. After a slow start, this dram doesnât hesitate.
Finish: The lingering finish - marrying Islayâs peat and Italyâs sweet, spicy fruit notes - ensures youâll be back for another dram.
Ronnie Cox Says
âCaol Ila is a âmust-visitâ distillery if you go to Islay not only, of course, for the legendary dram but, almost as importantly, it has the best still-house view of any distillery in Scotland. In this case it looks out over the Sound of Jura and the tidal rush. I promise you wonât regret it even if itâs raining... which is not unusual...â
