This 40-year-old Glen Elgin 1969 Private Collection is a powerful whisky and as dark as the night sky; sweet with a velvet-like texture and yields a resinous sherried character with spices, tobacco leaf, boiled sweets and a delicate smokiness. Sadly only 50 bottles were produced, bottledĀ at its natural strength of 40.4%, so clearly they caught this one in the nick of time!
