Invergordon 1988-2022 | 34 Year Old Infrequent Flyers Single Cask 804137
Highland Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: The Alistair Walker Whisky Company 70cl / 44.6%
An ancient 34-year-old Invergordon 1988 single grain whisky bottled by Alistair Walker in 2022 for Batch 11 of their Infrequent Flyers range.
This 1988 Invergordon spent the last part of its 34 years ageing in a virgin oak cask 804137, which ended up yielding a total of 255 bottles at its cask strength of 44.6%. Invergordon distillery is owned by Whyte & Mackay, who use almost the entirety of its output for their blended Scotch whisky brands, so it's great when a really old cask like this slips through the net.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Golden straw.
Nose: Coconut toasties, caramelised oak and Battenburg cake, with that familiar and welcome aldehydic aroma of single grain whisky.
Palate: The lengthy period in wood sees any industrial grain notes dissipate, evolving into a very soft and approachable dram. Coconut marzipan sponge cake and almond praline from the grain: the virgin oak brings butterscotch and honey to the party - a lovely combination.
