Nose: A fruit-forward nose with raisins, currants, dried plums and blackberries. The woody aromas follow:Ā varnish, glue, fresh cardamom and vanilla pods. Develops moss and bark aromas with time in the glass.
Palate:Ā Sweet and earthy off the bat, then becomes very leafy - more herbaceous than the nose suggested.Ā The dried fruits from the nose are there, with pine resin, playdoh and furniture polish notes.
Finish:Ā Long, warming and peppery with a faint herby menthol tingle at the end.
Comments:Ā More robust than the sister cask, this is perhaps less subtle but bursting with character and flavour.
