Glendronach 33 Year Old Sherry Cask Bottled 2004

Glendronach 33 Year Old Sherry Cask Bottled 2004

Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 40%

A bottle of the classic Glendronach 33-year-old Highland single malt whisky. This legendary 33-year-old Glendronach was bottled in 2004 and is widely assumed to be from the superlative 1971 vintage. This whisky is all about the casks, though, being assembled from a small batch of absolutely pristine fresh Oloroso sherry casks of mind-blowing quality.

Despite being bottled at 40%, Glendronach 33-year-old is an absolute flavour bomb and was a breakthrough bottling for the distillery, which was still in its pre-Walker doldrums and had only recently come out of mothballs to resume distilling. Acclaimed as an instant classic on release, Glendronach 33-year-old has stood the test of time: a benchmark distillery bottling and a bucket-list dram for sherryheads.

Tasting Notes

Official tasting Notes

Appearance: Rich mahogany with a distinctive tawny heart. Viscous and syrupy.

Nose: Pronounced and sweet. Huge and aromatic with a combination of sweet stewed fruits, nuts and chocolate fondant. Alluring.

Palate: This displays real elegance and exudes class. A myriad of spiced fruits drizzled in bitter chocolate sauce. This fronts a second wave of flavours including walnut cake and mocha. Rich and unctuous to the core. An alcoholic liquid dessert.

Finish: A masterful dram which pleases the most jaded of palates. Fantastic stuff!
